Hey friends,

We are starting to gather recipes from friends who have been baking with our grains and we were delighted to see these beautiful biscuits emerge from the oven of our favorite goat-milk goddess and farmer friend Rachael at Mystery Bay Farm, on nearby Marrowstone Island.

Ingredients:

• 2 cups flour (they used 1 cup whole wheat, 1 cup spelt)
• 2 tsps baking powder
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• Yogurt (use Mystery Bay yogurt if you can!)

Instructions:

1. Cut 6 Tbs butter into the dry mix
2. Then add 1 cup diluted yogurt as a buttermilk substitute 
3. Cut into rounds or other shapely shapes
4. Bake at 425° for 15 minutes
5. Slather with whatever floats your biscuits!

If you don't know them already, Mystery Bay Farm is a small scale, family farm operating on five acres on Marrowstone Island where they have been a WSDA certified Grade A Dairy since the spring of 2009. They produce farmstead, goat milk cheeses and yogurt for general sale. Farmstead means they make all of their cheeses and yogurt using only the milk of their well loved alpine goats. It's a joy and privilege to live in a community with farmers like Rachael and to have access to such truly beauty-full and nourishing local food.  

Our whole family is obsessed with their chevré and we relish every single bite, spread on toast or sprinkled on salads and often just scooping it out of the wrapper and eating like ice cream.  In fact, no joke, we are on our way right now -- once I finish this post-- to go get more of this cheese!
